FAQ

What makes this DTS different?

While getting close to God, understanding what it means to finish the Great Commission and being abandoned to the captain like the early circuit riders did during this DTS training you will also get to enjoy an amazingly clean environment (top ten snorkeling spots in the world with 120 feet of visibility), teaching about how God is in creation and cares deeply about our planet, the environment and marine biology by Annie and Fran MacAulay who are Marine Biologists! This is the setting you can expect as you study with the DTS on Catalina Island.

What is the age limit for DTS? Is 17 years old too young?

We do consider applications from 17 year-olds if they have completed high school, but students must turn 18 before the outreach portion of the school. As with all applications we prayerfully consider your participation and evaluate your gifts and calling, social and spiritual maturity, love for the Lord and others. We want God’s highest for each individual and especially welcome those who have a desire to know God and make Him known.

What type of visa do I need to enter the United States?

Most international students coming enter the US with a B-1/B-2 Visa. Though this is generally a visa used for business or tourism, it is also deemed to be a valid visa for those coming for short-term missionary service or training. The letter of invitation (after acceptance to the DTS) that you receive from us states the exact dates of your stay. The B-1/B-2 Visa is valid for 90 days.

What will happen to my visa status when departing for outreach?

If you are going on outreach and planning to return to the USA (some schools return for debrief) afterwards, you will need a letter of invitation from your school in order to re-enter the USA.
