Imagine Catalina Island where for the first week of your DTS you engage this pristine environment with whales, dolphins, rare tropical fish, do some hiking, fishing, watch wild buffalo, foxes, early morning and night diving, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, outriggers and more…  Then head to Kona Hawaii to complete your lecture phase.

Outreach

During the first month of your course you choose your outreach destination with your friends.  Choices for this school include amazing locations such as our Baja Adventure, Amazon Adventure, Papua New Guinea Adventure, Europe and more….

s/y EL ENCUENTRO our 59 foot training vessel is a ketch yacht and will be used by the Baja Adventure team along with the s/y WHALE TAIL a 26 foot yacht to minister to fishing villages down the Baja Peninsula. Here is a photo of what the El Encuentro will look like once she completes her commissioning this summer!

What Makes This DTS Different?

We are unique in YWAM becasue of our vessels, adventure, incredible line up of speakers and having lecture phase on two beautiful islands – Catalina and Hawaii?  But dont get too carried away with location only, we are all about developing a close and personal relationship with God, understanding what it means to take on the Great Commission in remote places.  You will be challenged to become leaders of this generation fulfilling God’s call on your life with your peers! Only serious applicants need apply!

What:

A five month Discipleship Training School. This is your pathway to service in YWAM, your open door to serve anywhere in the world in over 1400 locations.

When:

September 20, 2012 – February 14, 2013

January 4th, 2013 – May 30th, 2013

September 19th, 2013 – February 13th 2014

Where:

Lecture phase – Catalina Island and Kona HI

Cost for lecture:

$4,400. Includes food, room and board, and tuition. Does not include airfare. You fly into LAX and take a ferry to Catalina to begin your school, then on to Kona after an initial time on Catalina.  After your lecture phase everyone flies on to outreach locations in small teams.

Cost for Outreach:

It will depend largely on field assignment destination as most of the cost is airfare. An estimate would be $3500 – $4500.

The YWAM Discipleship Training School

Is designed to encourage students in personal character development, cultivate their relationship with God and identify their unique, individual gifts and callings. Cross-cultural exposure and global awareness are specially emphasized throughout the course, preparing the students to evangelize and disciple current and future generations. You will answer the call: “Go into all the world and teach (make disciples of) all nations.” Matthew 28:19
