We run DTS every quarter in January, April, July and September.
The cost for lecture phase tuition is $3,995.USD which will cover the cost of room and board, and tuition (does not include airfare). Outreach cost is estimated at $5,000–$6,000 USD. The actual cost will depend on your field assignment destination as most of the outreach cost is airfare.
Generally, outreach locations are announced in the first or second week of lecture phase. In the past, our teams have frequented locations such as Papua New Guinea, Micronesia and the Pacific, Panama, Haiti and the Caribbean, and Cambodia.
This will depend on your personal needs and lifestyle. A frugal trainee may only need $20 USD/wk for laundery and personal necesseties. If you would like to go out for dinner, a movie, or explore Hawaii you may want to consider a budget of $100-$150/wk.

Yes, we place a high value on family. It would be best to coordinate with your course leader about the most convenient time for their visit as DTS can have a very full schedule.
No, your course tuition includes all course related transportation. This includes shuttles to and from the airport and the UofN as well as weekly shopping and course related outings.
No, we are unable to issue tax receipts for the lecture portion of DTS. However, we are able to issue tax reciepts for the outreach portion. Please note: lecture fees must be paid in full prior to funds being allocated toward the outreach fees.
We consider applications from 17 year-olds if they have completed high school, will turn 18 prior to the outreach portion of the course, and are accompanied by their legal guardian to registration on arrival day.
